IMPORTANT UPDATE Hello Everyone I am adding this update as a Courtesy to all of you because I don't want to just blow you off without a reply. If you are looking for a friend I will be happy to be your friend but I want to make it clear that there is a very special lady in my life...someone I am very serious about developing a romantic relationship with. At the moment we too are simply friends with no commitments to each other. But she has the number 1 spot on the top of my list. So, as I said, if you want a friend I will be your friend just as long as you clearly understand, and respect, my current position. Thank you for your interest in my profile. Sincerely, Dan Aloha from Hawaii, USA Please just call me Dan. I am 55 years young and I have one 14 year old daughter who stays with her Filipino mother. Although I teach children, and I love them to death, I need to make it clear right now that I am not real crazy about having anymore children myself, but I will leave the subject open for discussion. Okay, now let me tell you a little more about myself.I'm an avid reader and a published writer. I also enjoy watching movies, trying to dance, cultural events, billiards, and walking, but my favorite past time is cuddling in front of the TV with my best friend and lover. I teach English to a small group of Chinese students via Skype. I am currently looking at teaching opportunities in Vietnam. Ideally I hope to have a job already lined-up when I arrive, but either way I will be flying over there in January of 2016. I am convinced that I will have no trouble obtaining employment once I am there, if I need to. If you like what you read, and see here, then contact me,drutter on Skype, and let’s get to know each other better. I was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, USA. A fair sized city which holds the state capital and is located about 100 miles West of Detroit. I am the 3rd of 5 children born to William & Betty Rutter who remained faithfully married to each other for 35 years until the time of my mother’s passing in Sept. of 1986. My father is 86 years young and still living in Lansing. Shortly after my marriage fell apart in 2005 I decided to return to college. I started out slowly (it had been more than 20 years sense high school) at the local community college with a couple of classes here and there. In January of 2009 I enrolled in the University of Hawaii and left the cold Michigan winters behind me with no intentions of ever experiencing another Michigan winter – ever! I will visit my family during the warm summer months, or they can come here for a green Christmas. I have a soft spot in my heart for children who face so many challenges both at home and at school today. I love to see their little eyes light up when they finally understand the concept I’ve been trying so hard to teach them. I want to leave a positive impression on them in this cold, negative world they have inherited and for as long as I can remember I have always loved to read and write - even back in grade school I could spin a tale like nobody’s business. So English became my major with a stress on writing and, in addition, I obtained my TESL certification (Teaching English as a Second Language). I am now a proud graduate from the class of 2014. Although I was raised in a protestant Christian home and was involved in the ministry myself as a young man, I have sense become more “Darwinized.” I do believe there is another dimension beyond that which our physical senses can comprehend, a world much more real than the one we see around us every day, but I have a hard time with the traditional concept of a god, or gods, who control it all. There are many mysteries in the world we are not able to answer such as the Bermuda Triangle, the pyramids (how were they constructed and lined up with the stars and planets under such primitive conditions?), people who can (and do) use mental telepathy to bend spoons and move objects, and mothers who pick up 2 ton cars off their children who are trapped under them. These things, and more, lead me to the conclusion that there is another dimension, or spiritual realm, that we have somehow lost our ability to interact with. Rather than looking outward for a god, my beliefs run, perhaps, a little closer to the Buddhism concept of looking within ourselves for peace, serenity, and a spiritual connection with all living things (including this other dimension). I am fully convinced that Christianity is a religion, most likely created by the Romans, pieced together with bits and pieces of other religions, gods, fairy tales, and legends that were prevalent at the time of its conception. Okay, the writer has come out in me but I really must sign off for now.
