"The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." This quote gives a sense of how I try to live my life. I am Catholic and my faith is the center of my life! I try to live my life such that my actions are informed and directed by the moral compass that comes through faith. For hobbies, I love reading and learning about all matter of things. I read a lot more non-fiction (history, philosophy, psychology, theology, politcal analyses, biographies and the like) but I do enjoy the occasional fictional story (especially historical fiction) as well. I am a physicist and if you are at all familiar with the typical engineering/scientist mentality, that does describe me: neat and tidy (though not exceptionally so), way too analytical--particularly about doing things well,--designing different things to improve life around the house (sometimes fixing problems and sometimes overly complicating something that didn't need to be changed--hey nobody is perfect right)........ For other aspects of my personality, I am a bit of a romantic, a philosopher, and an adventurer. I am guessing that these descriptions probably portray different ideas to you then they do to me, but, if you want to know whether you are right or not, then you will just have to get to know me :D. Regarding hobbies, there are many, but here are a few: I enjoy almost anything active outdoors, especially biking, hiking, camping and sailing. I also enjoy ballroom dancing, reading, music and cooking.

Please be safe and welcome to my profile. Apologies for it being so long. Those who know me well, describe me as a positive, open minded and thoughtful gentleman who is always smiling (except in my photos...lol). Many of the women I've talked to on FC have said that I am the most respectful man they've chatted with. The women closest to me in my life have all told me that I am not like any other man they have known before. My mother was an amazing woman and she taught me to always be a gentleman, to always keep my word and to help others which brings joy to your life. Because of her influence, I always put those I care about ahead of myself. I see it as a man's duty to make sure his loved ones are well taken care of, safe and happy. I live my life by the "Golden Rule" meaning I treat others how I want to be treated myself. And I see couples as being total equals in a relationship. The information above is mostly who I am on the inside…my core values. On the outside, I'm probably one of the most chill, peaceful natured people you will meet. I honestly can't remember the last time I lost my temper. I was raised from childhood on horseback. Showing/training Quarter Horses (AQHA), working cattle and rodeo…a real cowboy as they say. And just like the men in those old Western movies, I am the kind of man you want beside you if things ever go bad. I am a huge animal lover as well. I have one child, a son and he recently left the military after 10 years to finish his Masters degree in Psychology. My one and only marriage ended well over 20 years ago. As a single parent to my son, I did not date often so I could spend more time with him. Hence why I have not yet remarried, along with the fact that my mother eventually moved in with us due to her blindness and other health problems. As her health continued to decline, she eventually required my 24 hour a day care. Sadly I lost her recently. Dozens of people told me that they did not know any other man who would have cared for his mother like that. They said I had a great reward coming in heaven. But I didn't do it for any reward, I did it because it was the right thing to do. I did it because she was my mother, because I loved her and she was the most caring person I have ever known. Hell I even did the same for my father years before until he passed. And he was a real jerk…lol. Moving on, currently my free time is mostly spent restoring vintage German automobiles along with the historic home (built in 1845) and adjoining railroad station (built in 1870) which I recently purchased.
